When you’re on safari in Africa, you’ll be thrilled by the stunning landscapes and wildlife that make the continent such a special place to visit. These places include Lake Malawi, the Zanzibar Archipelago, and the Sahara Dunes. Of course, you can’t visit them all in one trip, but these five will provide you with a taste of what you can expect. And when you get tired of spotting the same animals over, there are plenty more places to explore.
Victoria Falls
Victoria Falls is a waterfall on the Zambezi River in southern Africa is one of the most beautiful part of Africa. It is one of the largest waterfalls in the world, measuring 1,708 meters in width. It provides habitat to unique species of plants and animals. This natural wonder lies on the border of Zimbabwe and Zambia. To fully appreciate its beauty, you must visit the area. There are several attractions and activities to enjoy while visiting Victoria Falls.
The waterfall is twice as high as Niagara Falls. The sheer force of the water propels a column of mist high into the air, covering the edge of the gorge in a fine mist. The spray gives this waterfall its traditional name Mosi-oa-Tunya. Unfortunately, the spray does not coincide with the peak safari seasons in Chobe and Hwange. In addition, swimming in the Devil’s Pool can be dangerous if the water is fast.
A view of Victoria Falls is a breathtaking sight. You can get a closer look by hiking or taking a boat ride. The falls are a UNESCO World Heritage Site, twice as wide as Niagara Falls. The best time to view them is in April after the rainy season is over. You can always stay in a hotel near the falls and enjoy the local nightlife.
Pyramids of Giza
One of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World is the Great Pyramid of Giza, one of the largest and oldest pyramids of Giza in Africa. It is the only ancient wonder that remains largely intact. The complex of pyramids is located in the Greater Cairo area of Egypt. Visitors to the site are often amazed at the massive scale of these ruins. Excavation of the site has uncovered many fascinating details about the pyramids’ construction, including workers’ districts, workshops, and bakeries. In addition to the pyramids themselves, workers’ tombs were discovered within the complex. Mud sealings in the workshop areas date to the late 4th dynasty. The tombs themselves range from simple mud-brick domes to intricate stone monuments. They were filled with statues, and inscriptions in hieroglyphics occasionally identify the dead.

Sidi Bou Said
On Tunisia’s Mediterranean coast, a charming town named Sidi Bou Said sits on a promontory. It’s full of small art galleries and alfresco cafés. The Cornejo palace, Ennejma, is another place to visit. There’s also a historic house with wax figures dressed in traditional attire, Dar El Annabi. The town is also home to a marina next to the sandy beach.
Sidi Bou Said is a wonderful destination for a day trip for a taste of the old world. The town’s main square is lined with souvenir shops, and you can buy handcrafted items or fragrant jasmine bottles at the local markets. If you’re driving, there’s free parking, but it’s uphill and overbooked during weekends. So instead, visit the town during early spring to get the most out of it.
Besides the cliff that overlooks the village, Sidi Bou Said has gorgeous whites and blues all over. The village also has a small souk where locals can buy food and other basic commodities. In addition, there’s a souvenir stall on the lower part of the main street, where you can buy a t-shirt or a birdcage. This town’s history enchant you, so make sure to purchase souvenirs while you’re there.
The town is located near the ancient city of Carthage. In 1915, Sidi Bou Said was given statutory protection and is now a UNESCO World Heritage site. A French artist named Baron Rodolphe d’Erlanger lived in the village for a few years and ensured that the traditional pattern was recognized properly. Even today, artists flock to the village, with several art galleries and workshops.
Sossusvlei
Sossusvlei is a clay and salt pan located in the Namib Desert in southern Namibia. The name Sossusvlei is used as a general name for the area around it, making it one of the most popular tourist attractions in the country. Located in the Namib-Naukluft National Park, Sossusvlei is a popular tourist destination and a must-see for visitors to Namibia.
The main attraction of Sossusvlei is the Deadvlei, a clay pan that once contained water. This water enabled the trees to grow, and although the area is now dry, the trees remain. The unique landscape is an awe-inspiring experience. Once a source of water, Sossusvlei has been a haven for wildlife, and its unique beauty is reflected in the dunes that tower over the ground.
The arid climate of Sossusvlei has its disadvantages. Temperatures can reach 40 degrees Celsius during the day but can drop to freezing in the evening. Low-flying aircraft disrupt the wildlife, and the game population is low. Water scarcity is another problem in the area, and the evaporation rate leaves plants and animals without water. Despite the hot and dry conditions, the sand itself and plants help keep the water in Sossusvlei.
Sossusvlei is the ideal place for photographers to capture the most breathtaking photos of this amazing landscape. Terracotta sand dunes surround the clay pan, and the black skeletons of petrified trees adorn its surrounding sand. It is a popular tourist destination and is an unforgettable experience. Djenné
In Djenne, the Old City shows off historic architecture from the pre-Islamic era. Djenne has been described as the “most beautiful city in Africa” and as a typical African city. The city has preserved its historical heritage with efforts by skilled masons who maintain the buildings and pass on their architectural know-how. Every year, the town celebrates the inauguration of the mosque and UNESCO’s World Heritage Site.
Ancient mud buildings surround Djenne. Many of these buildings are built in a Sudanese style, making the town similar to Stonetown in Zanzibar. The city is very peaceful, and most people travel there on foot. The narrow streets are not wide enough to accommodate a car. The city is rich in history and has important trade ties with Timbuktu.
A visit to Djenne should start on Monday, the market day. Buses and bush taxis make their way to Djenne on this day. Otherwise, you’ll need to take a bus to the Djenne junction on Bamako-Mopti road. Once there, you can get off and wait for a further vehicle. If you’re on a budget, you can also camp on the roofs of some buildings.
One of the most interesting events in Djenne is the market, held on the open square in front of the mosque. It dates back to the time when camel caravans brought salt to Djenne. Thousands of traders from miles around attend the market every Monday. Many of them follow the calendar of local market days in the surrounding villages. There is also a thriving artisanal trade in Djenné.
Table Mountain
If you’re looking for an adventure, Cape Town has plenty to offer. A trip to the country’s flat-topped Table Mountain will be a great way to get in some fresh air and see some of the sights the city has to offer. You can take a cable car up the mountain or hike up to the top if you’re feeling energetic. Either way, you’ll be treated to amazing views of the city below.
After a day spent hiking up Table Mountain, you’ll have a chance to explore some of the city’s most famous attractions, including God’s Window and the Cape Point Nature Reserve. The view of the Lowveld is among the best in the world, and you’ll likely spot more than 2000 African penguins on the mountain! Boulders Beach has white sand and large boulders. You’ll find a crowd of people on this beach in summer.
The region has abundant wildlife, including flora and fauna. This 57-square-kilometer area was once home to leopards, Cape lions, mountain zebras, and sandhill cranes. You can still see caracals, chacma baboons, and rock hyraxes on Table Mountain. The mountain is also home to several species of raptors, including the mighty Verreaux’s eagle and the endangered Cape hawks.
Cape Town is the most beautiful part in Africa is a beach city with breathtaking views of the ocean and Table Mountain. A cable car ride up to the mesa will offer you incredible photo opportunities. Lake Malawi
Lake Nyasa, Lago Nissa, and Lake Malawi are named for the same beautiful place in Africa. It is one of Africa’s Great Lakes and is located in the East African Rift System between Mozambique, Tanzania, and Malawi. There are many things to do in this beautiful place, but we’ve included a few of our favorites here. Read on to learn more.
Visitors to Lake Malawi can enjoy the Lake’s vast shoreline through kayaking, sailing, and other water activities. You can marvel at the granite boulders scattered by the forces of the primordial earth, as well as view the blazing sunsets from the water. While visiting the Lake, you can take part in the Root to Fruit initiative by staying at a backpacker inn. During this initiative, you’ll see more than 250,000 trees being planted.
When planning your trip, consider the time and resources needed. Traveling from Maputo to Maputo will take you two full days by bus. Another option is taking a ferry to the Mozambique side of the Lake. You can visit two towns along the way. Most travelers stop at Likoma Island and Chizumulu Island on the way. At the southern end of the Lake, there’s a small town, the tiny town of Blantyre.
Aside from water sports, you can try paddleboarding and water skiing on the beautiful Lake. If you’re not a big fan of fishing, don’t worry – the Lake is home to thousands of fish – and locals have been catching and eating these for centuries. You can also find low-cost barbecue fish restaurants dotted around the Lake. And with no cars on the road, walking around the Lake’s shores will be safe.
Zanzibar Archipelago
If you’re looking for an idyllic island getaway, you can’t go wrong with Zanzibar. Located off the coast of Tanzania, the island is a semi-autonomous group of white sandy islets and a world heritage city. Set against the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean, the island is home to mosques and traditional architecture. For those who are looking for more of a traditional beach vacation, try staying on one of the smaller islets.
The Zanzibar Archipelago has long been a popular vacation destination for explorers and travelers alike. Aside from the white sand beaches and crystal blue waters, Zanzibar was a major slave-trading port in the 19th century. As many as 50,000 slaves were shipped out of the island from Europe and the Americas every year. Sahara Dunes
There is only one permanent river in the Sahara Desert, the Nile, and this makes the region very dry. While temperatures rarely exceed a hundred degrees during the day, they can drop to near freezing during the night. From December through April, rainstorms can be severe and cause the temperature to drop by over 40 degrees. Even more spectacular are the frequent snowstorms in the higher mountains of the Sahara. Whether you choose to visit the Sahara during these months or during other seasons will be based on personal preference.
The Sahara Desert is the world’s largest desert and covers approximately 3.5 million square miles. It stretches across eleven nations and occupies almost a third of Africa’s land area. It is composed of arid sand that has been blown by the wind. Many parts of this desert contain salt deposits. This salt is sold for industrial use. The Sahara is also home to numerous oases. If you’re interested in exploring this vast desert, make sure to visit the Sahara Dunes in Africa.
The Sahara has several types of dunes. Star dunes, for instance, have a central pyramidal mound and three or more radiating arms. Dome dunes are circular or oval-shaped mounds formed in the lee of multiple wind directions. While dome dunes are relatively rare, they tend to form on the upwind edges of dune fields and raise questions about the dynamics of unification.
The Sahara has remarkably rich fauna. There are approximately 70 species of mammals, around 90 species of birds, and many types of ants and reptiles. Rwenzori Mountains
